In the fall of 2010, the U.S. Treasury Department established a website for folks who want to comment on tax forms: www.pracomment.gov. If you have specific ideas for improving Form 1023, the 501(c)(3) application form, this is your chance to let the IRS know.
The Form 1023 discussed in this ebook has remained essentially unchanged since late 2004. Although the IRS has not formally announced that it is revising the 501(c)(3) application form, the fact that they are accepting comments strongly suggests we may see changes before long.
Another clue that the Form 1023 may change soon: More Cyber Assistant delays. www.charitylawyerblog.com reports that IRS representatives at a November, 2010, conference on tax exempt organizations revealed that the Cyber Assistant is unlikely to be released in 2011.
